THE FACTS

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), your vehicle’s manufacturer warranty is a commitment that certain repairs or issues will be covered - provided the car is properly maintained in line with the manufacturer’s service schedule (commonly referred to as logbook servicing).

 

Importantly, you’re not obligated to service your vehicle at a dealership to maintain your warranty. The ACCC confirms that you can choose any licensed independent mechanic, as long as the service follows the manufacturer’s standards.

This includes using approved parts, following logbook intervals, and notifying you of any additional scheduled service items (like spark plugs, brake fluid, or transmission flushes).
